About Arthur Latcham (1895 – 1979)
The Latcham Society is named after Arthur Latcham who donated 50 acres of land on which Markham Stouffville Hospital was built. Mr. Latcham left the ultimate legacy for the future of our community and helped realize a dream to build a first class hospital to support our growing community.
Mr. Latcham’s generosity in the region is legendary; receiving the Order of Canada and Queen's Silver Jubilee Medal for his prolific contributions. He will be remembered by the many people whose lives he touched during his lifetime. Through his legacy the memory of Mr. Latcham and all he stood for will live forever.
