Why Give
We’re growing. And we can’t do it alone.

Your community needs your support. Your donation helps purchase critical, life-saving equipment for Markham Stouffville Hospital, so we can meet the growing demand for care, close to home. Learn about the ways you can give back to your community hospital.

Markham Stouffville Hospital is one of Ontario’s leading community hospitals, serving Canada’s most diverse population in one of its fastest growing regions.
Today, MSH serves nearly 400,000 residents in our region, with numbers expected to rise dramatically in the coming years. We need to be ready to meet the growing demand – by expanding our services, growing our spaces, and bringing new innovations to the delivery of care.
Government can’t fund all the hospital’s ongoing equipment and other priority needs. Year after year, it’s generous community support that continues to drive innovation and growth and enable exceptional patient care.
It’s your generosity that will help ensure MSH patients have access to the life-saving care and treatment they need, close to home.
Outstanding care, with your help.
MSH offers some of the best medicine in the province. As a community hospital each of our team strives for excellence in their fields. We offer state-of-the-art radiology, the number one rated midwifery department, and same day diagnosis breast health. But none of this is possible without the help of our donors.

Smart Hospital Beds
MSH currently operates 323 beds, many of which are now reaching the end of their lifespan — at a time when the demand for care is rapidly increasing. Across oncology, cardiology, palliative care, emergency medicine, surgical care, and other areas, these beds shape both the patient experience and the care teams’ ability to respond quickly and safely.
Your gift can help upgrade MSH’s equipment with Smart hospital beds, designed to support both patient comfort and clinical care at the bedside and beyond. With integrated technology and advanced surfaces, Smart hospital beds help care teams respond more effectively while enhancing safety and the overall patient experience.

Youth Mental Health
There is a critical shortage of dedicated paediatric inpatient mental health capacity across York Region, leaving many children and youth who require intensive care and support without access to the specialized services they need. With no inpatient services available in our local community in times of crisis, these young patients will spend hours waiting in MSH’s Emergency Department until they are transferred to an external care facility when a bed becomes available.
With the help of generous community support, MSH Foundation is approximately halfway to its $5 million goal to help fund a dedicated inpatient unit for children and youth on our hospital’s campus — a safe, specialized space where young patients can receive the care they deserve.

Emergency Department Optimization
Emergency medicine is the safety net of health care and in recent years it has come under immense pressure. Growing patient volumes have put Emergency Department (ED) wait times in a critical state nation-wide. Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital’s dedicated staff of emergency physicians, nurses, and health care professionals have risen to the challenge, delivering expert care to every complex case that comes through their doors. However, more needs to be done to support the ED’s resources and patient flow.
Your generosity plays a vital role in the hospital’s ongoing ED Optimization plan, which includes improving the ED’s waiting areas and introducing a new specialized paediatric space for children and families.
