Why Give

We’re growing. And we can’t do it alone.

Your community needs your support. Your donation helps purchase critical, life-saving equipment for Markham Stouffville Hospital, so we can meet the growing demand for care, close to home. Learn about the ways you can give back to your community hospital.

Markham Stouffville Hospital is one of Ontario’s leading community hospitals, serving Canada’s most diverse population in one of its fastest growing regions.

Today, MSH serves nearly 400,000 residents in our region, with numbers expected to rise dramatically in the coming years. We need to be ready to meet the growing demand – by expanding our services, growing our spaces, and bringing new innovations to the delivery of care.

Government can’t fund all the hospital’s ongoing equipment and other priority needs. Year after year, it’s generous community support that continues to drive innovation and growth and enable exceptional patient care.

It’s your generosity that will help ensure MSH patients have access to the life-saving care and treatment they need, close to home.

Outstanding care, with your help.

MSH offers some of the best medicine in the province. As a community hospital each of our team strives for excellence in their fields. We offer state-of-the-art radiology, the number one rated midwifery department, and same day diagnosis breast health. But none of this is possible without the help of our donors.

Cancer care at Oak Valley Health.

Cancer Care

MSH is proud to announce its partnership with Princess Margaret Hospital’s Cancer Care Network. This significant milestone will bring expertise and access to a wide range of cancer services, clinical trials, and ground-breaking research in our vibrant community.

Your support plays a vital role in transforming MSH’s oncology services. MSH has seen an 11-14 per cent annual increase in patients requiring life-saving cancer care in recent years. With your help, we will continue to bring leading-edge cancer care, closer to home.

Diagnostic Imaging

Every health care journey begins with the right diagnosis. At MSH, state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and advanced technology are at the heart of our life-saving care. Our team completes over 240,000 diagnostic tests per year, including over 46,000 ultrasound tests. An ultrasound is essential to identifying disease and monitoring pregnancy, making it one of MSH’s most widely used diagnostic tools.

Your gift can help MSH update its fleet of ultrasound machines so that we can continue to deliver the patient-centred care our community deserves.

Emergency entrance

Emergency Department

Each day, MSH’s Emergency Department (ED) serves an average of 260 patients requiring urgent care. In the past year, MSH had nearly 95,000 ED visits, almost a quarter of those patients were paediatric. Being prepared is one of MSH’s key strategies, which is why expanding the capacity of the ED is crucial to serving our rapidly growing community.

Your generous donation will help our community’s most vulnerable patients by fortifying our caring staff of health care professionals with the resources they need to care for every complex case that comes through our doors.

Surgery

Thousands of patients and families rely on MSH for timely access to the services our expert team of 28 surgeons perform. Generous donations help fund the capacity and tools needed to perform over 21,800 surgeries annually for urologic, cancer, gastrointestinal, obstetrical, orthopaedic, plastics and vascular needs, as well as preventative and diagnostic procedures including biopsy, colonoscopy and endoscopy.

Your giving is what allows MSH to embrace leading-edge technology and live up to the high standard of care want to give to our community.
